Privacy policy

The short version

DealHunt collects only what the product needs: a free account (email, name, password hash) and the hunts, watchlist, and reminders you create with it. We run no advertising and no payment processing — there is nothing to buy. The website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies; the app has no analytics.

What we process

• Your account. Your email address, name, and a bcrypt hash of your password (never the password itself). Signing in with Google or Apple (where offered) shares your name and email from that service instead; Google also shares your profile picture.
• Your data. Saved searches, your watchlist, and the reminder schedule derived from it — stored so they sync between your phone and the web. Search requests pass through our server to eBay (that's how live results work) together with a random device identifier used solely for fair-use rate limits; it is never joined to any other data.
• AI features. Two parts of DealHunt send data to an AI provider: OpenAI, or Google (Gemini API) as a backup when OpenAI is unavailable. The AI assistant sends the messages you type into it and the marketplace you chose. Check this hunt sends that hunt's settings — marketplace, category, keyword and how it is matched, buying format, price range, condition, excluded words, and whether alerts are on — along with how many eBay listings it matches right now and up to 20 of those listing titles. Neither sends your name, your email, or any account identifier, and a hunt's seller lists are never sent. We don't store these conversations; each provider processes them under its paid API data terms. What comes back is generated by an AI model and can be inaccurate — check the details before you buy.
• Emails. Account emails (verification, password reset) are delivered through Resend, our email provider. If you turn on Weekly email in Settings, you also get an email on Mondays when your hunts with alerts on found new listings that week. It is off until you turn it on, and every one has a one-click unsubscribe link (or turn the switch off again). Its listing links carry eBay Partner Network tracking, like every listing link in DealHunt. Auction reminders are never emailed — they are notifications on your phone.
• Website analytics. This website (not the app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure page speed. It uses no cookies or browser storage. For each page view, Cloudflare receives the page address, the page you came from, page-speed measurements (which can include the address of the page's largest image), and the IP address and browser type that every web request carries.
• eBay links. Listing links open on eBay and carry eBay Partner Network tracking parameters; qualifying purchases may earn us a commission. What eBay does on its own pages is governed by eBay's privacy policy.

What we don't do

No ads, no ad tracking, no analytics in the app, no in-app purchases or payment processing, no selling or sharing of personal data, no data brokers. Phone notifications for watched auctions are scheduled on your device itself.

Retention and deletion

Account data is kept while the account exists. Deleting your account — in the app under Settings → Account, or at the delete-account page on this site — permanently removes your account and all synced data from our servers, immediately. Rate-limit entries expire within 24 hours; sent-reminder records are purged after 30 days.
